'I struggled to bring in our real Christmas tree after it had sat outside all year near the back fence of the garden. The children and I decorated it as we always do. It was only after a few nights that I noticed that a spider must have been carried in with the tree from the garden. The spider had spun her web between some of the lights on the tree. Luckily the web was at the back of the tree tucked out of the way. Rather than move all the decorations I decided that it was easier to leave the spider alone, so she spent the festive season living in our Christmas tree. I wrote this story based on my spider in our Christmas tree.' Anne Garton

'Often Christmas stories are a little bit girly. My boys love spiders, so this was a great Christmas story for them. The story switches from the family's point of view as they decorate the Christmas tree to what the spider sees and experiences. It was a lovely story with a nice twist at the end.'
