The Bicycle - PREVIEW

Written by Anne Garton - Illustrated by Derek Garton

This is a beautiful story about a young boy called Josh who is learning to ride his bicycle. His patient father runs with him trying to steady Josh and stop him from falling over. This story shows how difficult it is to learn to ride a bicycle, but if you don't give up, you can do it. Once you can ride a bicycle it is easy to fly along and be over confident. Josh learns this lesson to his detriment!

The illustrations in this story are all paintings completed by Derek Garton. The vibrancy of his pictures enhance this eBook. Boys and girls will love reading The Bicycle because they will identify with Josh and the problems that he has.

Review

'I have just taught my daughter to ride her bike. We went down to the park and she was able to learn to ride on a big wide path . At first I was running next to her, holding her upright. Then eventually running with her, hardly holding the seat. Every now and then I would let go and she would fall. But eventually she realised that she could do it, and suddenly she was off. I stood watching her in tears. How wonderful it is that the little things in life can make you so happy! We read this story not long ago and my daughter laughed. She knew exactly what learning to ride a bicycle was all about.' Suzie, Stafford Heights, QLD
